I'm watching Elvis playing and having fun this morning, and I'm SO grateful to all of you for helping him through this frightening and traumatic move from NC to NYC. He acts all tough, but really he's a very sensitive, insecure boy, and I appreciate so much your patience and persistence with him.

I called Dan out of desperation when my three year old Jack Russell Terrier, Guinness, tried to bite someone in the elevator of my building. I had a previous trainer but I wasn't comfortable with her methods and needed someone new with more practical advice. I had adopted Guinness nine months earlier and while he is a very sweet and affectionate dog, he has been very difficult for me to train and he's had his share of problems- all stemming from anxiety- especially in the elevator. I immediately felt comfortable with Dan and saw that Guinness did too. In only two lessons, Dan gave me practical training methods to use with Guinness and more importantly, the confidence to know I could handle my dog in all situations. I highly recommend Dan to anyone looking for a trainer for their dog.

I recently moved from NC to NYC needed a friendly place to take care of my two dogs during the day while I’m at work. Lucky for me and my dogs, we found The Paw Stop – a place that’s not only friendly, but also staffed with a truly awesome and dedicated group of people. I knew this move was going to be confusing and stressful for the dogs, but I wasn’t prepared for how completely traumatizing it has been for one of them (Elvis). Elvis became withdrawn, depressed, grumpy, he wasn’t eating well, he wasn’t playing, he wasn’t happy. The wonderful people at The Paw Stop were kind and patient and persistent until they found the trick to break through the trauma of the move and help him be a happy, playful, contented dog again. I am incredibly grateful to everyone at The Paw Stop for everything they’ve done to help Elvis become a happy city dog.

I am sure everyone writes in to say this, but even after just one visit to our home from Alex, Seymour is amazing. We plan on working with Alex some more, but already we see a huge difference with our 4 month old Welsh Terrier and have been happy to give Alex the credit when people stop us to comment on how nice and behaved our puppy is (and we get stopped a lot!) Thanks a million from Seymour, Cathy and Jay Shino

Last night we left Zoe home alone on the couch. We came home to a happy excited dog but from when we left she wasn’t barking and when we came home she wasn’t. I think I might turn on the recorder to my computer today to see what happens during the time between. The only thing was one poop not stomped in just missed the wee wee pad. This morning Zoe is lying in the corner windows in a little nook where the sun is squeezing in between the blinds, this is something I prayed for because my dog never seemed to do that lying on the floor in the sun thing that you often see larger dogs do. She is so calm, her behavior is so much better it is amazing. She is such a snuggle bunny now eager to show us she’s happy to see us even if we just leave the room. We will persistently test her and continue the hard work that you put in to her. We are so grateful and proud to see her be so calm and balanced, and we both know that without your diligence, sacrifice (being here all alone away from your family) and hard work we would not feel so blessed today.

hi alex,
i promised i would report back on max's barking. you said it would take 2 or 3 days? 10 minutes! I still cant quite believe it. First thing on saturday morning I let him out with the pinch collar and the long lead. he started barking like crazy at the neighbor about half an hour later. I called him, he retreated. i retrieved him, put him on his regular lead and walked him and did obedience training on the lawn for 10 minutes and then put him back on the long lead. about half an hour later he barked twice and I called him and he came. he didn't go back out and start barking again. I left the long lead on him for about 2 hours but he would get wrapped around trees and stuck so I took it off but left the pinch collar on him all weekend. An abbreviated thing happened on sunday. he barked, i called. he came but not straight away so i put the lead on him and did a short obedience session. 2 or 3 times during ht day he barked a couple of times i called him, he came and that was it. I never told him to stop barking. It was such a relief because the last two weekends he was driving me nuts.

We recently started sending our dog to day care at the Paw Stop. He is a shy dog so I was quite nervous in the beginning. Staff at Paw Stop were very considerate and allowed him to set his own pace. I call in from time to time to ask how he's doing, and always the staff received my calls with patience and great details. Plus I can always watch him on the webcam at office (my favorite!). We recently also got a bath for him. The groomer was experienced and my dog came home happy and clean. I know my dog is in good hands when I send him to the Paw Stop. Thank you guys!

I just wanted to send you a quick e-mail and say Thank You to you and your staff for making Louie's 1st Birthday as special as it seems to have been. I appreciate it alot, and the bag of goodies were just perfect. He loved the piece of the cake I gave him last night and the tennis balls are exactly what I've been looking for. In fact I just bought a can of the bigger ones that squeek, but they're a little too big for him, so the little ones are just perfect. I haven't yet given him one of the rawhides or cheese treats, I'll try them tonight.
I must admit I was very dissapointed when the Doggie Day Care center right around the corner from where I work told me back in May that they require you to own a dog for 3 months before they'll let you bring it to them for daycare. But that has turned out to be a blessing is disguise, had they not said that I never would have found your place. Louie isn't the only one that looks forward to coming to your store, I do as well - your staff ALWAYS greets people with a smile and courteous attitude and all of them seem to genuinely care about the customers and the dogs.
Please keep up the good job that you all do.
